Be on TIME!

Student attendance monitoring systems, and the arrival of efficient new HR Software , has made sure that students have absolutely no excuse for turning up late. But if you're one of these people who is always late – and always will be – then have no fear; there are a few tricks you can use to your own advantage which should help alleviate the stress of constantly running around to lessons!

1) The first thing you need to remind yourself of is that there IS no way to cheat the system. You can't beat the clock, and you're never going to be able to hack into the network and make yourself free of this horrible virtual chain around all your necks. Once you accept that then you can move on, OK? Good!

2) Being on time, really, is about time management: ask yourself the following questions – 1) do I spend a lot of time thinking about what to do and not actually doing it? 2) Do I waste a lot of time talking to people when a quick chat would suffice? 3) Can I wake up a bit earlier? OK, so you may not want to wake up earlier, but think about it...if you do you might make a much better start to your day and this’ll have a good knock-on effect.

3) Being late might go down well with your class-mates, but it won’t wash in the real world: the reason so many teachers have gripes about their students is that they know that later on, they will find it hard to integrate into society. This frustrates the teacher, as his or her job is all about making you fit better into society! So if you keep turning up late you’re not only messing up your ability to later fit into the ways of the world, but you are making your teacher feel pretty worthless. Try not to do it! Trust us, one day you will be their age and you will NOT see the funny side...

4) Here’s a SUPERB trick for getting to class on time: hide a chocolate bar in your desk and promise yourself it if you arrive when everyone else does. Not only will it be a treat you can get used to, but if you start eating it when you have arrived late you will feel guilty. In this case it’s a good thing, believe us, because it’ll spur you on the next time!
